How It Works

Reserving a whole pig from Vernon Family Farm is an easy and rewarding way to fill your freezer with high-quality, pasture-raised pork. Our pigs are raised on non-GMO grain and spend their time rotating through our pastures and woods during the grass season, resulting in rich, flavorful meat.

Once you place your deposit—either online or in our farm store—you’ve secured your pig for the season. Since we raise a limited number of pigs each year, placing your reservation early ensures you don’t miss out.

After your reservation is confirmed, we’ll contact you to complete your custom cut sheet. This is where you decide how you’d like your pork processed—thick or thin chops, fresh or smoked hams, bulk sausage or links, and whether you'd like your bacon cured or left fresh. If you opt for smoking and curing, keep in mind that this adds an additional processing fee of $2-$5 per pound. Not sure what to choose? We’ll guide you through the process, making it simple to tailor your order to your family’s needs.

When your pork is ready, it will be vacuum-sealed, frozen, and USDA-certified, ensuring freshness for over a year in a deep freezer. You'll need approximately four cubic feet of freezer space, so a small chest or upright freezer will work perfectly. Once your order is complete, we’ll notify you for pickup, with the remaining balance due at that time. If you're able to pay in cash at the store, it's always appreciated!

By reserving in advance, you’re not just securing high-quality, locally raised pork—you’re directly supporting the farm and helping to cover the upfront costs of raising and processing our pigs. If we sell out of our own pigs, we may source from other trusted local farms, but you can always request pigs exclusively from our farm.
